Health Mart to make stop in Toledo for Healthy Living TourWritten by Sanya Ali | | firstname.lastname@example.org
The Health Mart Healthy Living tour has been helping people become aware of existing health issues for the past four years. With a team of pharmacists on board, they travel across the country giving free comprehensive health screenings.
On July 2, they will bring their pharmaceutical knowledge to Toledo.
Project Coordinator Zach Nixon said the goal of the project is twofold.
“We want to raise awareness about health issues, especially diabetes,” Nixon said. “A lot of people are not aware that they are at risk of it. It is a lot more manageable the earlier you detect it. We’re also trying to highlight just the importance of community pharmacy in an area. Pharmacists are often an overlooked resource.”
Laurel Getz, senior communications manager for marketing firm EMG3, said acknowledging the hard work of pharmacists is the main objective of the tour.
“The tour is designed to celebrate local community pharmacists who go above and beyond to serve their communities and is making more than 130 stops across the country this year,” Getz said in an email.
The tour will make its stop at the Toledo Family Pharmacy, 1601 W. Sylvania Ave., from 9 a.m. to noon July 2.
“There’s about over 3,000 Health Marts all over the country,” Nixon said. “We try to hit as many as we can along the route.”
Getz said in the press release that the hope is to identify health risks in participants and pair them off with a Health Mart pharmacist to figure out a treatment method.
“Tour staff will identify people at risk for various health conditions and encourage them to manage these conditions with help from Health Mart pharmacists, who advise on ways to reduce medication spending and better understand drug regimens and complications,” Getz said. “Health Mart recognizes that community pharmacists are essential to the towns and cities where they live and work.”
Nixon said Toledo’s Health Mart location is an underrated resource for people with health issues.
“It’s really great service the people at Toledo Family Health Mart Pharmacy are bringing to the community,” Nixon said.
The services provided will range from glucose to body composition tests, the focus on risk for diabetes and cholesterol issues.
Health Mart is an independent pharmacy network with the goal of helping small pharmacies create a public image through marketing and in-store programs, according to the release.
“Local community pharmacists are a great resource for people’s health issues and we’re trying to get the word out,” Nixon said.
