Toledo’s Courtney Ingersoll advanced to the semifinals before being eliminated in the State Farm Women’s Three-Point Championship on March 29 in New Orleans.

Ingersoll moved to the second round of the competition after finishing with 15 points, tying her with two others in the opening round. She struggled early in the round but scored nine of a possible 12 points on the final two racks to get 15 and advance.

In the second round, however, Ingersoll’s early struggles put her in too large of a hole. The senior guard out of Massillon missed her first 13 shots and finished fourth in the semifinals with eight points.

USC’s Ashley Corral won the contest, scoring 20 points in both the opening and final rounds for the victory.

After leading her team to an Elite Eight run in the WNIT, Courtney Ingersoll will take the court for the final time as a Rocket in New Orleans.

The senior guard will compete in the State Farm Women’s Three-Point Championship on March 29 as part of the Final Four’s College Basketball Skills Competition televised on ESPN from 9-11 p.m. The men’s three-point and slam dunk contest will also be included.

Ingersoll led the nation shooting 44.2 percent from behind the arc and tied a Mid-American Conference record with 96 threes this season, tying former Toledo player Kelly Savage.

The 5-foot-10 guard from Massillon will shoot five balls from five racks located in different areas behind the three-point line. Each ball counts as one point while the final “money” ball on each rack is worth two. She will have one minute to take all 25 shots.

Among the competitors that she will face includes Louisville’s Becky Burke, Michigan State’s Taylor Alton, Purdue’s Brittany Rayburn, Saint Bonaventure’s Jessica Jenkins, South Carolina’s Markeshia Grant and USC’s Ashley Corral. The winner of the contest will go head-to-head with the men’s winner.

Ingersoll was a Third-Team All-MAC selection in 2012 averaging 11.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game. She also averaged a team-high 35 minutes per contest. She finished her career at UT first in games played (133), sixth in three-pointers made (176), seventh in three-point percentage (36 percent) and minutes (3,469) and eighth in steals (173).
