Kerin on Rimington watch list, awarded to nation’s best centerWritten by Zach Davis | | email@example.com
After a stellar 2011 campaign, Toledo’s Zac Kerin is being recognized on the same preseason watch list as the nation’s best.
The junior center was named to the Rimington Trophy watch list this week, given at the end of the season to the nation’s best center.
Kerin earned Second-Team All-MAC honors last year on a Rockets offensive line that finished sixth in the nation, giving up just 10 sacks on the season. That protection helped Toledo’s dynamic offense, which finished eighth in the country in scoring, posting 42.2 points per contest.
The Rimington watch list consists of 51 members this season, with just two coming from the Mid-American Conference. Western Michigan’s Kevin Galeher joined Kerin from the MAC. The Southeastern Conference leads all leagues with 10 candidates, followed by the Big Ten with six.
