The Children’s Choir of Northwest Ohio will team up with Tapestry for a holiday concert.
The show, “Alleluia, Rejoice!” is at 4 p.m. on Dec. 15 at Corpus Christi University Parish, 2955 Dorr Street.
The choir consists of 50 children, ranging from Lucas, Wood and Fulton County.
“Kids from all different schools and backgrounds come together to sing,” Artistic and Executive Director Lisa Alleman said.
Each year, the choir collaborates with someone new. This is the first time the two groups will collaborate.
“The children’s choir likes to collaborate,” Alleman said.
Tapestry is a duo featuring Denise Grupp-Verbon on harp and Michael Grupp-Verbon on guitar. They have been performing together for 11 years, according to tapestryduo.com. In December alone, the duo will perform at Nazareth Hall in Grand Rapids, Regency Plaza in Sylvania and for the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Mass at Christ The King Parish in Toledo.
The concert will consist of numbers like “Away In A Manger,” but the kid’s favorite, Alleman said, is “Laudate Dominum.”
“They like it because it is very upbeat and really joyful,” Alleman said.
The choir is a nonprofit organization which aims to “free the musician within,” according to a news release. It represents children grades three to five in the Jubilate Choir (which serves as a training choir) and grades five through ten in the Bel Canto Choir.
The choir serves as an extracurricular music education experience, bringing many schools together from around the area. The choir helps advance the musical talents and provide fellowship among the children involved.
The show is free of charge and open to the public. An optional offering will be taken during the concert. For more information on the show, call 419-377-7710 or visit ccofnwo.org. For more information on TAPESTRY, call 419-478-4177 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
