Library to celebrate Presidents Day with councilman’s photographs
Written by Caitlin McGlade | | news@toledofreepress.comYears before Tom Waniewski represented District 5 on the Toledo City Council, he was trailing presidential campaigns with a camera in hand.
He and long-time friend Jim Nowak, a videographer, worked for various broadcast news agencies for decades. Part of their career is documented by copious photos of presidents or presidential hopefuls who stopped in Toledo.
The pair compiled their work to display at the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library to celebrate Presidents Day. You can check out the 20 photos on the first floor of the library’s central court until the end of March.
The exhibit includes up-close shots of Jimmy Carter, George H. Bush, George W. Bush, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton. The photos are accompanied by commentary recalling the nuances of capturing presidential campaigns in action.
