With the Sweet 16 determined, No. 6 seed Xavier University Musketeers is the only Ohio team left in the tournament. No. 7 seed Michigan State University Spartans is also among the final 16.
Making it to March 26′s game in Los Angeles, the Xavier Musketeers will face No. 2 seed University of Arizona Wildcats, which beat No. 10 seed The Ohio State University Buckeyes March 21 73-58 to advance. The Sweet 16 matchup is scheduled for March 26 at 10:17 p.m., airing on TBS.
Michigan State is scheduled to play No. 3 seed University of Oklahoma Sooners March 27 at 10:07 p.m., also airing on TBS.
No. 11 seed University of Dayton Flyers had a good run in the first two rounds, after winning in the second round 66-54 against No. 6 seed Providence College Friars March 20. In the first round of the tournament March 18, the Flyers won 56-55 on home turf while facing No. 11 seed Boise State University Broncos and after trailing most of the game. In the third round, the Flyers lost to No. 3 seed University of Oklahoma Sooners 72-66 on March 22 in Columbus.
No. 8 seed University of Cincinnati Bearcats lost in the third round to No. 1 seed University of Kentucky Wildcats 64-51 on March 21 in Louisville.
Last year, the University of Connecticut Huskies won the championship game, 60-54, against the University of Kentucky Wildcats. The game featured the two lowest seeds in NCAA history, seventh and eighth seeds, respectively. It was UConn’s fourth national title.
The University of Dayton Flyers was the last Ohio team in the 2014 tournament, going to the Elite 8 for the first time since 1984.
