The Maumee River Jazz Series will host jazz musician Nelson Rangell on Aug. 18.
“It is a rare opportunity to see Nelson, and someone of his caliber, in this type of setting,” said John Patterson, president of Up Front Entertainment and producer of the series.
Rangell is a national jazz recording artist. The Denver-based musician plays both the saxophone and flute. In 2004, Rangell performed at the River Raisin Jazz Festival.
The Maumee River Jazz series is aimed at brining live music to Toledo and spread the good news about jazz, Patterson said.
Rangell’s CDs will be available to purchase for those interested.
Rangell’s performance is one of the last for the series this year. Alexander Zonjic will close the series on Aug. 25.
Zonjic played in June and has been brought back by popular demand, Patterson dais.
The Maumee River Jazz Series is every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Cousino’s Navy Bistro, 30 Main St.
The show is $5. Food and drinks are available through the Navy Bistro.
