‘Uh-Oh Here Comes Christmas’ returning to LourdesWritten by John Dorsey | | email@example.com
All you ever need to know you can learn during the holiday season–just ask the members of the Lourdes University Drama Society. The Drama Society welcomes you to the return of Uh-Oh Here Comes Christmas. The series of vignettes, by the famed author of All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, has become a regional holiday tradition. The laughs are set to kick off in the Ebeid Student Center on December 6, at 8pm.
The production features Danita Binkowski, Tim Robinson, Sarah Wright, Courtney Gilliland, Morgan McPhilliamy, Emily Green, Brad Somogye, Kelly Welever, Elliott Boggs, Alicia Allen, Rachel Esposito, Katy Berlin, Nicole Peckham, Austin King, Enique Mason, and Brittany Potts. Faculty Advisor Keith Ramsdell is directing for the Drama Society.
“I like the play because it fits Lourdes Drama Society well. It’s includes scenes about the challenges we all face around the holidays with family and relationships. It also has a few “Linus moments” when we’re reminded that Christmas is really about something more significant than Santa Claus and giving presents,” said Ramsdell. “I also like the script because it gives us the opportunity to include any student who auditions. There are big parts for seasoned actors and small parts for newcomers. Combined with simple staging and minimal technical requirements and it’s the perfect choice for our group to perform in the Ebeid Student Center.”
Robert Fulghum has published seven best-selling books with more than 16 million copies of his various works in print and published in 27 languages in 103 countries. Fulghum has also performed in two television adaptations of his work for PBS and was nominated for a Grammy for a spoken word production of All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.
“We want to help our guests prepare themselves for the holidays by drawing upon their memories and all of the senses– they’ll be welcomed by the sight of decorated Christmas trees, the sounds of a Peanuts Christmas, and the smell of cinnamon pine cones. Every year we have patrons who come and see the show for the first time. I think it demonstrates how well Fulghum’s writing connects with the human experience, especially around the holidays.”
Tickets for Uh-Oh Here Comes Christmas are $8 for general admission and $5 for seniors and may be purchased at the door or in advance. The show runs through December 8. Show times are 8pm for Friday and Saturday performances and 2pm on Sunday.
