UT’s Jacobs will step down as president next yearWritten by Staff Reports | | email@example.com
Jacobs oversaw the merger of the medical college with the university in 2006 and has overseen more than $200 million in capital improvements and a capital fund campaign that raised $106 million.
He was also a frequent target of faculty and union critics who questioned university restructuring and spending priorities.
“My time in Toledo has been among the most personally rewarding years of my life, and Ola and I are looking forward to many more at UT and in the community,” Jacobs said in a March 21 news release.”I’m excited by a new opportunity to help UT and other universities adapt to the financial and resource pressures that will grow only more challenging over time.”
The release indicated Jacobs will lead a new Institute of University Transformation that will aim to “help integrate the ways technology can be used to improve the learning and retention of skills and information, increase access and reduce costs for students.”
