Faces of FOX Toledo contest planned Sept. 7Written by Matt Liasse | | firstname.lastname@example.org
FOX Toledo is looking for a new face.
The Faces of FOX Toledo contest is a “casting call to audition and cast two non-news talents to represent the station for the upcoming year,” General Manager Dava Brothers said.
The main objective of the contest is for the station to be involved in the community.
“We’ll use these faces of FOX to go out and interact with on-site events,” Brothers said.
Brothers said the station is looking for people who are “enthusiastic, energetic, animated, quick on their feet, do a good job of interacting with the public [and] have a good sense of humor.” The faces would be dealing with promotions for the station, like primetime shows and late-night comedy blocks.
“It’s an opportunity for us to add a human touch with a lot of enthusiasm and that local feel,” Brothers said.
In addition, the faces will represent FOX Toledo at public events.
The Faces of FOX Toledo auditions are Sept. 7 at the Toledo Repertoire Theatre, 16 10th St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The station will hire a male and female ages 18 and older. The two chosen will hold the title for a year. Registering online is preferred, and can be done by visiting foxtoledo.revrocket.us. Auditions will be one minute and involve reading from a script.
Brothers said it is important to keep sales and news separate, so it was inappropriate for news anchors to be the faces of the station.
“The reason that we’re doing non-news talent is they’re not going to be on the news,” Brothers said. “This is about the sales effort. The news talent does not cross over into promoting programming. There’s a very clear separation between what the reporters and anchors do because news is very specific to reporting … but what we do with the Faces of FOX is things that are not news-related.”
