Pizza chain’s customers’ e-mails mistakenly forwarded
Written by Kristen Criswell | | krapin@toledofreepress.comDuring the weekend, individuals on the Vito’s Pizza and Subs’ e-mail list received e-mails containing personal information from individuals unsubscribing from the list.
Between the evening of Jan. 2 to Jan. 3, at least 15 e-mails were sent, five of which contained e-mail signatures with individuals personal information.
A customer pointed out the error to Vito’s on its Facebook page and Vito’s responded by echoing what a previous poster stated: “Sorry for the confusion. We had an employee incorrectly set up their auto responder while they were on vacation last week. Other than e-mail being forwarded, no information was compromised. It has been fixed now.”
The company added its own statement that said, “It started on Sunday and was resolved early Monday morning, anything that is still being received was sent during that time. We are sorry this happened …”
Vito’s world headquarters did not return calls seeking comment.
