Sony’s new handheld PlayStation Vita may be on the way later this year, but PlayStation Portable fans can delight in Square Enix’s epic game DISSIDIA 012 [duodecim] FINAL FANTASY. Single players can delight in the additional campaign after the finishing the prequel campaign, which boosts the experience and increases the replay value to triple digits. Yes, players could easily experience more than 100 hours of gameplay in this PSP exclusive game that centers on fighting, action, and role playing elements amid the good goddess of harmony, Cosmos, and Chaos, the god of discord. The multiplayer combat system features fighting with as many as three additional players. Novice players to this game series should try this multiplayer mode first.
This prequel adds new characters and features to the popular worldwide game series. Players choose from a huge set of Final Fantasy characters to fight each other in one-on-one battles. Some of the objectified female characters dress and move provocatively. The 3D settings, various weapons, and magic powers mix well with the beautiful musical score, fantastic cut scenes and fast paced gameplay. Less characters with more development for each, varied movements (not just “duck and dodge” tactics), and better camera options would strengthen this game even more, but the high content, top notch production values, and, most importantly, perfect price ($29.99 SRP) make this opus essential for PSP gamers (***1/2, rated T for fantasy violence, mild language, partial nudity, and suggestive themes).
