Altvater: Brandywine Country Club to host First Tee InvitationalWritten by Fred Altvater | | BackNine@toledofreepress.com
The Toledo District Golf Association has announced that Brandywine Country Club will host the first-ever First Tee Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 26, with proceeds to benefit the First Tee of Lake Erie.
The First Tee of Lake Erie impacts the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.
The format for the new tournament will count the two-best balls of each four-man team and verified USGA handicaps will apply. The event is limited to the first 25 teams to submit an entry.
A trophy with the names of the winning team members is to be established by Brandywine Country Club in the hope that this becomes an annual event.
Teams can enter by contacting Brandywine Country Club at (419) 866-3444. The $400 entry fee per team is due upon entry and can be made via cash, check or credit card.
All golfers including club professionals are welcome to enter. Professionals will play from the Blue tees, men from the whites and women will play from the red tees.
Cash prizes based on the number of entrants will be awarded. A skins game and 50-50 raffle will also be held.
Lunch is not included in the entry fee, but a hot dog and hamburger buffet will be available for $8.
Get your favorite foursome together and spend a day of golf at Brandywine Country Club. You and your friends will have fun and your contribution will greatly help the First Tee of Lake Erie.
