United North will host its annual meeting at 6 p.m. tonight Jan. 14 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 740 N. Superior St. More than 150 residents and business leaders are expected to attend. The meeting is open to the public.
United North, which is focused on revitalizing the Old North End (ONE) Village neighborhood, was recognized as the Ohio CDC of the Year last year. A video slideshow of highlights from the past year will celebrate that distinction and awards will be presented to outstanding residents and volunteers, according to a news release.
Among the group’s goals for 2014 are obtaining funds for the adaptive reuse of the former St. Hedwig’s School into senior housing, additional improvements to Ohio Theatre and Event Center, continuation of the Jobs Campaign and helping launch a Promise Neighborhood/”Cradle to Career” effort, according to the release.
