July 27 benefit to raise money for Toledo man’s cancer expensesWritten by Staff Reports | | firstname.lastname@example.org
The family of a local man fighting cancer have organized a benefit for July 27 to help raise money for his medications and treatment.
His family has organized a benefit for noon to 6 p.m. July 27 at the Knights of Columbus, 4256 Secor Road. The benefit will feature food, music, a silent auction and a 50-50 raffle.
“The prognosis states that if left untreated, we may only have 8 more months with him,” they wrote on fundraising website YouCaring.com.
“This is unacceptable. Mark Meehan is an amazing person — in that Peter Pan, never grow up, joyful soul kind of way. He always brings a smile to the faces of those around him. He is the best uncle and one of the greatest people that we know. We need your help to get him through this tough time.
“With our help we can make sure that Mark doesn’t have to worry about anything other than getting better. We would appreciate any donation that can be made; every little bit helps. On behalf of Mark, his family, and friends we thank you.”
Meehan was born and raised in Toledo. He attended Rosary Cathedral and Central Catholic High School.
“He is a wonderful man who is full of life and anything you can do to help him continue to fight would be a major blessing,” said his goddaughter Laura Meehan in an email to Toledo Free Press.
