It’s official: The 85 Academy Awards have gone Bond. James Bond.

Adele will be performing the title track for 2012′s surprise hit “Skyfall” during the Feb. 24 telecast, Oscar producers announced early Wednesday morning.

The British singer won the Golden Globe Award on Jan. 13 for “Skyfall,” which she wrote with Paul Epworth. The performance at the Oscars — her first live performance of the song and first time performing on U.S. TV since last year’s Grammys — is in addition to an already announced 007 tribute that will take place during the telecast.

“It’s an honour to be nominated and terrifyingly wonderful to be singing in front of people who have captured my imagination over and over again,” Adele said in a statement. “It’s something I’ve never experienced and probably only ever will once!”

2012 was a great year for the famously well dressed spy. He celebrated 50 years on the big screen with his 23rd film. “Skyfall” opened in November to rave reviews and has been a box office hit around the globe with more than $1 billion grossed. The film recently surpassed $300 million at the domestic box office.

James Bond will fit right in on the Red Carpet. Daniel Craig, the latest actor to play the spy, will most likely be walking the Red Carpet come Feb. 24.

“Skyfall” is the first Bond theme to debut in Billboard’s Top 10 and the first to be nominated for an Oscar since “For Your Eyes Only” in 1981.

Nominations for the 85th Academy Awards were announced Jan. 10. Other nominees in the Best Original Song category are “Before My Time” from “Chasing Ice” (Music and Lyric by J. Ralph), “Everybody Needs A Best Friend” from “Ted” (Music by Walter Murphy; Lyric by Oscar host Seth MacFarlane), “Pi’s Lullaby” from “Life of Pi” (Music by Mychael Danna; Lyric by Bombay Jayashri) and “Suddenly” from “Les Misérables” (Music by Claude-Michel Schönberg; Lyric by Herbert Kretzmer and Alain Boublil).

The 85th Academy Awards, for outstanding film achievements of 2012, will be presented on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center, and will be televised live locally on 13abc and in more than 225 countries worldwide.
