New trial date set for Steven King in Elaina caseWritten by Staff Reports | | firstname.lastname@example.org
Steven W. King appeared in court today, where his trial date of Sept. 16 was moved to Oct. 7, citing additional discoveries related to the case and an ongoing investigation. A final pretrial for King is set for Sept. 26.
King and his ex-girlfriend Angela Steinfurth are charged with obstruction of justice related to the disappearance of Steinfurth’s 18-month-old daughter, Elaina, whose body was discovered in an East Toledo garage on Sept. 5.
Steinfurth is scheduled to appear in court for a pretrial hearing on Sept. 25.
Elaina was reported missing June 2 when her father Terry Steinfurth Jr. came to pick up his daughter between noon and 1 p.m. at an East Toledo home. An argument ensued when Steinfurth refused to give him Elaina, according to several witnesses.
Almost an hour after the start of the argument, Steinfurth went in to get Elaina but came out “crying and screaming” that Elaina was gone, according to Terry Steinfurth Sr., Elaina’s grandfather.
The family began searching the area for Elaina. They called the police when she could not be found.
