TPS board members announce that they will seek renewal levyWritten by Evan Brune | | firstname.lastname@example.org
Members of the Toledo Public Schools Board of Education announced June 25 that they will seek to place a 6.5-mil renewal levy on the Nov. 5 ballot. The original levy was approved by voters in 2008. The renewed levy is planned to bring in $13 million annually for TPS.
“This will not be a tax increase for the Toledo voter,” Board President Brenda Hill said.
The levy renewal will be brought forth at a board meeting at 5:30 p.m. June 25 at the Thurgood Marshall Building at 420. E. Manhattan Blvd., Toledo.
“We will recommend to the board that the renewal be on the November ballot,” Board Member Bob Vasquez said.
Hill said the board is confident that the levy will pass.
“It’s not additional money. This is just the money we’ve been using for our everyday expenses,” Hill said. “This is basic money we need to run our schools.”
