Actually, it's going very well for the first year. Here's a list of the organizations that are participating so far.

Mothers For Peace
Beyond Nuclear
Residents Organized for a Safe Environment, CA
Coalition Against Nukes
Ohio Non-Nuclear Sierra
311 Fukushima Watchdogs
Radiation and Public Health Project
Dr. Helen Caldicott
Ohio Green Party
Pennsylvania Green Party
South Australian Action Group
Environmental Action Group BGSU, OH
San Clemente Green, CA
SAGE Alliance, VT
Greening Greenfield, MA
Delaware Green Party
Green Party of New York
Peace Resource Center of San Diego
Center for Health, Environment and Justice, D.C.
Unplug Salem, NJ
Familes for Safe Energy, CA
Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, Vermont Branch
Solar Times
Tri-Valley CAREs, CA
Ecological Options Network (EON), CA
Georgia Women's Action for New Directions (WAND)

What the "AC Grid" in Japan has demonstrated is that nukes are unnecessary. They've shut down almost all their nukes without blackouts. In Germany, they've shown that nukes can be replaced by wind and solar.

The only entity "demanding" more nukes is the federal government. They continue to waste hundreds of billions of dollars on a technology that is too expensive, dirty, and dangerous to be allowed to continue, even as they cut programs like Head Start.

Even the utility companies are starting to abandon nukes such as Crystal River and Kewaunee. Our aging nuke plants are breaking down left and right. Palisades just had a steam pipe break; Perry suffered an emergency shut down; San Ofre is likely to explode if it's allowed to restart.

This is a critical time. If more of us join this Action, we can put real pressure on First Energy. All they care about is money. On this one day, let's deny them our money, by conserving electricity.

(laughter) no way they get 15,000 people GLOBALLY to do this. Not that $40k a day is going to stop a hundred million revenue utility anyway.

Nuclear is about to expand in use. AC grid demands it.

EPIC FAIL
