Former tax commissioner establishes Columbus law firm

A former Ohio tax commissioner has established a law firm based in Columbus focused on state and local tax law and lobbying.

Thomas M. Zaino recently announced the creation of the law firm, Zaino Hall & Farrin LLC, that will provide legal services to clients in the areas of audit defense, tax litigation, refund checkups, commercial activity tax exams, real property tax appeals, nexus studies, voluntary disclosures, tax planning and lobbying services, according to a press release.

The firm will represent clients in state and local tax matters against state and local taxing jurisdictions and will provide government relations services concentrating on Ohio tax policy.

Zaino served as Ohio Tax Commissioner during the first term of Gov. Bob Taft from 1999. He is also a former member of the Ohio State Racing Commission.

He is joined in the practice by Richard Farrin, Stephen Hall, Debora Dardinger McGraw, John Trippier and Adam Garn.
