Free dental care for adults available Feb. 16 at Brookview Dental
Written by Staff Reports | | news@toledofreepress.comBrookview Dental in Sylvania will offer free dental care to adults during its sixth annual “Smiles from the Heart” day.
From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 16, the office’s dentists, dental assistants and hygienists will clean teeth, fill cavities and remove teeth for those who are 18 or older and unable to pay for the service.
Care will be provided to as many patients as time will allow and patients will be seen on a first come, first served basis, according to a news release.
Initially, 70 patient registration forms will be distributed starting at 7 a.m. Patients will be asked to indicate whether they want a cleaning, filling or tooth removal. Once the registration form is completed, the patient will be assigned a number, indicating the order in which that patient will be seen by the Brookview Dental staff.
The office lobby, located at 7135 Sylvania Ave., will open at 7:30 a.m.
More than 475 people have received free dental care at Brookview Dental during “Smiles from the Heart” during the past five years, comprising more than $80,000 in free dental care, according to the release.
“Seeing all the smiles of appreciation and getting hugs from these many patients is our reward,” said Shane Ferguson, Brookview Dental practice manager, in the release.
Brookview schedules its annual “Smiles from the Heart” day on the Saturday closest to Valentine’s Day and consider it a Valentine’s Day gift to the community, according to the release.
”’Smiles from the Heart’ is one of the many ways we try to show our community how much we appreciate their neighborliness and friendship. It’s our way of giving something back to a community that’s been very good to us over the years,” said Dr. Peter Urbanik in the release. Dr. Brad Barricklow and Dr. Todd Schultz also operate the dental practice.
Brookview Dental is located at 7135 Sylvania Ave., Suite 1A, across the street from the Sylvania Senior Center, half a block from Tam-O-Shanter and just east of Sylvania Southview High School.
