Crystal Bowersox slated to portray Patsy Cline on BroadwayWritten by Staff Reports | | firstname.lastname@example.org
Elliston native and “America Idol” runner-up Crystal Bowersox is expected to portray the title role of Patsy Cline in an upcoming Broadway production of “Always…Patsy Cline.”
The two-person show is slated for this summer, but the second actress has yet to be chosen and no dates or theater have been chosen, said Richard Kornberg of Richard Kornberg & Associates, the public relations firm representing the show.
“Always…Patsy Cline” is based on the true story of the legendary country singer’s friendship with Houston housewife Louise Seger. It features more than 25 classic Cline songs, including “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Sweet Dreams” and “Walking After Midnight.” The show’s title was inspired by Cline’s hand-written letters to Seger, which she signed “Love Always … Patsy Cline.” Cline died in a plane crash in 1963.
Bowersox’s debut album, “Farmer’s Daughter” was released in 2010. Her sophomore album, “All That for This,” is scheduled for release in March.
