Medal of Honor Warfighter (Electronic Arts)

Inspired by actual events and written by actual active Tier 1 operators, Medal of Honor Warfighter features worldwide military action with the U.S. Navy SEALs, German KSK, and Canadian JTF-2. This first person shooter continues this game series as a direct sequel to the 2010 “reboot” Medal of Honor video game, pits military heroes against a terrorist threat called PETN who seeks to use a deadly explosive chemical.

Strong multiplayer mode creates a great team experience that includes constant chatter, feedback, and sharp criticism on player performance. Players can also test their skills in worldwide online competition. The camaraderie continues in the co-op mode including Fireteam element, which stresses friend duo dynamics. The upgrade system, menus and scope targeting takes some adjustment, but the game’s strengths rest on impressive graphics, vehicle mechanics, gameplay tactics (shooting from cover, breaches, etc.), quality sound, and deep multiplayer options. Developers make a decent attempt at a personal narrative by developing the “Preacher” character. Players experience his affected family, team dynamics, and personal trials with some decent results, especially when players open themselves up emotionally.

The Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition includes exclusive access to the Battlefield 4 BETA (fall 2013) and the Medal of Honor Warfighter Zero Dark Thirty Map Pack (for North America – Hunt Map Pack in Europe) at no extra charge. The pack will be available for sale for $9.99 in conjunction with the theatrical debut of Zero Dark Thirty the week of December 17. EA will donate a portion of map pack sales (at least $1 million) to the non-profit Project HONOR charity that supports veteran organizations. The Zero Dark Thirty Map Pack also comes with the exclusive Medal of Honor Warfighter™ Project HONOR Edition (only at Walmart), which also includes special Global Warfighters documentary. Players can also grab the specialized Air Flo Controller from POWER A for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. Medal of Honor Warfighter, powered by the Frostbite 2 Engine, comes recommended (***) and is also available on PC and Xbox 360.
