Brookview Dental to host candy exchangeWritten by Staff Reports | | firstname.lastname@example.org
A local dentist office will again be trading candy for money this Halloween.
Brookview Dental, 7135 Sylvania Ave., in Sylvania, will host its 11th annual Great Candy Buyout from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 1 and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 2.
For every pound of candy, trick-or-treaters will get a pound of pennies, or about $2.
The goal of the exchange is to help parents rid their homes of excess candy and help children avoid cavities. Last year’s exchange collected almost 400 pounds of candy, according to a news release.
The dental office will also accept leftover bags of unopened Halloween candy as donations for U.S. troops serving overseas, according to the release.
“We send the candy to our US troops overseas as part of Operation Gratitude,” said Shane Ferguson, Brookview Dental practice manager, in the release. “It’s our way to help members of our armed forces feel a part of the Halloween fun, even though they’re serving our country far away.”
