Toledo Animal Shelter benefit offers wine tastingsWritten by Staff Reports | | firstname.lastname@example.org
Toledoans can sip on wine to benefit the cats and dogs of the Toledo Animal Shelter on Oct. 24.
The Toledo Animal Shelter Auxiliary organized “A Celebration of Wine and Food,” set for 6 p.m. at Manhattan’s. The event will feature six wines paired with heavy hors d’oeuvres, said event coordinator and auxiliary member Kate Kelley.
The auxiliary’s first wine and food celebration was last year. The goal is to raise about $500 this year, Kelley said.
Overcrowding at shelters has become a problem in the economy, she said.
“I have a shelter pet and I don’t have any kids so my cat is my baby and I think a lot of people need to consider adoptions,” Kelley said, adding that Toledo Animal Shelter is also a no-kill shelter.
Manhattan’s is at 1516 Adams St., Toledo. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. To purchase, call (419) 243-6675 or visit http://www.toledoanimalshelter.com.
The shelter is located at 640 Wyman St., Toledo. Shelter hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday.
