Oct. 1 raffle in Maumee to aid local family

A prize raffle to benefit a local family is set for 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at Serenity Health and Wellness Center in Maumee.

Dave Carr and Dr. Deitra Hickey, owner of Serenity, arranged the raffle for the Patton family. Debbie Patton is a therapist on medical leave from the Center. Her husband Bob broke his neck in 2009 and has had multiple health complications since then. Debbie was later diagnosed with thyroid cancer and has had other complications. The couple has two children.

“[Debbie’s] been unable to work and then the bills are piling up,” Carr said.

Tickets for the raffle are $10 each or three for $25. Prizes include a television, restaurant visits and a free three-hour spa visit every month for the year. Tickets will be available at Serenity tonight at the very beginning of the raffle. Donations can be made directly to Debbie as well.

Debbie volunteers at church and is active in the community, Hickey said.

“Debbie is one of those people that has been doing volunteer and charity work for many years,” she said.

“[Debbie] has a terrific attitude towards life in general and she’s always helping other people,” Carr said of his friend.

If customers mention the fundraiser, Hickey will donate 10 percent from any service booked to the Pattons until the end of December.
