I attended the Romney rally to try an understand the other side without the media filters. I try and have balance in my life; look at both sides of an argument. I find it necessary to do this because very few news outlets are balanced in their coverage anymore. Just for interest, this paper has seldom a liberal opinion piece or letter-to-the-Editor since Don Burnard last March 16th piece, the paper suffers. This goes on with other newspapers as well. The Toledo Blade has made an attempt to reach the center with David Kushma in charge. He runs much more conservative opinion pieces than just a few years ago. So I ask Mike Miller why not increase your readership by reaching out to a larger base?

I also attended the Romney rally in Bowling Green. I don’t think that 12,000 attended but I do know that the audience was completely white. I attended with a black colleague and were detained and harassed by security three times. Being this close to Toledo one would think more minorities would have attended. But after my experience I think they were the wiser.

Is it really necessary to call Romney the “presumptive” GOP candidate? Romney locked up the required number of delegates weeks ago. Are they paying you by the word, Ben?

This story reads like something written for a high school newspaper. How about including a quote from one of the 12,000 people in attendance? Bottom line: your writing is awkward, disjointed, and just plain uninteresting. Better luck next time.
