Written by Zach Davis | | zdavis@toledofreepress.comToledo has added one more piece to its college football schedule two seasons from now.
The 2010 FCS Champion Eastern Washington will travel to the Glass Bowl to take on the Rockets in UT’s home opener in 2013.
“We are very pleased to add Eastern Washington to our 2013 home football schedule,” Toledo athletic director Mike O’Brien said. “The Eagles have one of the premier programs in the FCS, so we are looking forward to hosting them in the Glass Bowl.”
Eastern Washington won the FCS title after posting a 13-2 record including a one-point victory over Delaware in the national championship. The Eagles were 6-5 last season.
“Eastern Washington is an outstanding FCS program that will provide a definite challenge for our team,” Toledo head coach Matt Campbell said. “We have a lot of respect for Coach Beau Baldwin and the job he and his staff have done.”
The Eagles solidify the Rockets non-conference slate, which includes road contests against Florida (Aug. 31) and Missouri (Sept. 7) and a home game against Navy (Oct. 19).
