Toledo swim coach resigns
Written by Zach Davis | | zdavis@toledofreepress.comThe University of Toledo announced on July 7 that swimming and diving coach Liz Hinkleman has resigned her position at the school.
Hinkleman, the reigning Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year, has run one of the most successful programs at UT in her two seasons. The Rockets won the school’s second MAC Championship in 2012, just one season after finishing second in her first year.
In Toledo’s press release, the school said Hinkleman left “to pursue other coaching opportunities.” Hinkleman was a swimmer at Toledo 2004-08 before taking over as an assistant coach from 2009-10. The Rockets won the school’s first MAC Championship in 2010 in former coach Lars Jorgensen’s final year before he left to take an assistant job at Tennessee, his alma mater.
