Toledo recorded just four hits as it lost its fifth consecutive game on April 6 in a 7-2 loss in Mount Pleasant to Central Michigan in the weekend series opener.
The Rockets evened their record at 12-12 before the five straight losses dropped them to 12-17 with a 3-4 record in Mid-American Conference play. The Chippewas moved to 13-17 with the win with a 4-3 league record.
Toledo scored the first two runs of the contest before CMU responded with seven unanswered runs to secure the victory.
Sophomore Ryan Wilkinson (3-2, 2.34 ERA) was the hard-luck loser getting tagged for six runs in 5.1 innings, although just one run was earned after UT committed a season-high four errors.
Senior Lincoln Rassi pitched 0.2 innings of scoreless relief before giving way to classmate Alex Radon, who gave up one run in two frames.
Matt Delewski continued his recent hot streak, recording one hit in three at bats with one run and one RBI. The senior designated hitter has 10 hits in his last 21 at bats, raising his batting average from .231 to .301 over that six-game span.
Senior catcher James Miglin (1 for 4) and senior first baseman Mark Lapikas (1 for 2) each recorded hits while junior second baseman Wes White had a ninth-inning single after entering the game in the sixth as a pinch runner.
The Rockets return to action at 2 p.m. April 7 for the second game of the series against Central Michigan. Senior starter Matt Kuna (3-0, 3.33 ERA) is slated for his fourth start of the year and will try to remain unbeaten.
