Zuchowski leads Toledo past OU

The victory was Toledo’s first Mid-American Conference win of the season. The Rockets are now 9-12 on the year while OU dropped to 10-11.
Senior starter Matt Kuna (3-0, 2.95 ERA) won his first start of the season since taking a spot in the rotation last week, giving up three runs on nine hits in 5.1 innings of work. He previously had won two games and recorded two saves as the team’s closer.
Dan Zuchowski drove in three runs on two hits for the Rockets. The freshman shortstop also racked up the game-winning hit on a two-run single in the fifth.
Senior second baseman Joe Corfman (3 for 5, R) recorded three hits for the second straight game while senior center fielder Ben Hammer (2 for 5, RBI) and junior left fielder Tyler Grogg (2 for 4, R) each had a pair of hits.
Out of the bullpen, junior Cody Umbright threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief before giving way to senior Lincoln Rassi, who gave up two runs in 1.2 innings, his first runs of the season. Freshman Andrew Marra took it the rest of the way, closing out the game in the last 0.1 inning to earn his second save of the year.
Toledo will look to take the final game of the series at 1 p.m. March 25. Junior Jared Locke (2-3, 4.40 ERA) is expected to get the start against the Bobcats.
