After tying the game in the eighth, Toledo lost 3-2 in 12 innings following a game-winning sacrifice fly on March 17 in Cincinnati to Xavier.

After winning three of four games, UT (6-11) lost its last two games this weekend at the hands of the Musketeers (6-11).

Senior Alex Radon was passed over in the starting rotation for the first time this season in favor of classmate Matt Kuna, who had been the team’s closer. In his first action out of the bullpen, Radon (0-3, 9.00 ERA) picked up the loss, allowing one walk, one wild pitch and the game-ending sacrifice fly in 0.2 innings.

Kuna got his first start of the season and allowed two runs on five hits in five innings of work. He has a 2.25 ERA and has given up just nine hits with 11 strikeouts in 16 innings this year.

Tyler Scott, Lincoln Rassi and Cody Umbright combined to throw six scoreless innings in relief of Kuna allowing four hits with seven strikeouts. Rassi pitched a scoreless inning for the second time this week after making his season debut after struggling with an arm injury.

At the plate, sophomore catcher James Miglin led the way with three hits in six appearances. Senior first baseman Mark Lapikas (2 for 6, R) and second baseman Joe Corfman (0 for 5, R) each crossed the plate for the Rockets while senior right fielder Jeff Cola (2 for 5, RBI) recorded the lone RBI.

Toledo will try and avoid the sweep on March 18 with their final game of the weekend against Xavier at noon.
