With the win, Toledo (12-14, 4-8 Mid-American Conference) is just two games back of Eastern Michigan (11-5, 6-6 MAC) for first place in the MAC West with four conference games remaining. UT faces the Eagles in the season finale on March 3 at Savage Arena.

Junior guard Curtis Dennis (5 of 8) led all scores with 17 points, all in the second half. Classmate Dominique Buckley (3 of 5) scored 11, hitting three from behind the arc, and freshman Juice Brown (2 of 5) had 10 with a game-high five assists.

The Rockets topped Ball State (12-12, 4-8) largely without a major offensive impact from Rian Pearson, who has been named MAC West Player of the Week the past three weeks. The sophomore guard scored six points on 2-of-7 shooting with a team-high seven assists.

The Rockets made their biggest impact from three-point range with the team hitting 12-of-17 threes, led by four from Dennis. Ball State, on the other hand, missed 21 of its 30 attempts.

Cardinals MAC Player of the Year candidate Jarrod Jones was held to 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting, but dominated the glass with 15 rebounds. That was the theme of the night as BSU outrebounded Toledo 46-30, including a 24-4 margin in offensive boards.

Toledo takes a break from conference play when it travels to Huntsville, Texas, to take on Sam Houston State (11-15, 5-7 Southland) at 3 p.m. Feb. 18.
