The Rockets won a season-high ninth straight game on Feb. 15 with an 80-62 victory at Central Michigan.
The win kept Toledo (17-7, 10-2 Mid-American Conference) tied atop the MAC West Division with Eastern Michigan (18-7, 10-2 MAC). The Rockets face EMU in a potential division-deciding matchup on Feb. 21 in Ypsilanti.
Toledo was led past the Chippewas thanks to a career performance by Haylie Linn. The senior guard scored 24 points, hitting 6 of 7 threes to score in double digits for the eighth time this season.
Sophomore point guard Andola Dortch (7 of 14) scored 16 points while junior Lecretia Smith (5 of 7) had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Junior center Yolanda Richardson (4 of 6) had another strong game with eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Rockets shot better than 53 percent from the field as all 11 players who saw action scored. UT also stifled Central Michigan’s offense, holding them to just 32 percent shooting. Brandie Baker (2 of 11) led the Chippewas with 13 points and five rebounds while leading scorer Crystal Bradford (4 of 14) scored nine points with six rebounds.
Toledo returns to action at noon Feb. 18 when it hosts Western Michigan (6-19, 3-9) in Savage Arena. The Rockets lost the first meeting 70-67 in Kalamazoo on Jan. 5.
