Toledo to take first visit to BG’s Stroh CenterWritten by Zach Davis | | firstname.lastname@example.org
Fresh off an upset over Ohio, the Rockets will look to collect two consecutive wins over Mid-American Conference East Division teams as they travel for the first time to Bowling Green’s Stroh Center at 4 p.m. Feb. 11. The game is the second-part of a double-header between the two schools with the women’s teams playing at noon in Toledo.
With a win, the Rockets would close out their six-game swing against MAC East teams with a 3-3 record. That would be an impressive feat considering the entire MAC West, including Toledo, has won just five of 30 games so far this season against the East.
Toledo (11-13, 3-7 MAC) is just two games behind West leader Eastern Michigan with six conference games remaining, four of which against teams with a league record below .500. Bowling Green (12-11, 6-4) enters the game in fifth place in the East, three games behind leader Akron.
UT sophomore guard Rian Pearson has thrust himself into the MAC Player of the Year debates over the past five games, averaging 23.6 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals. He earned the West’s Player of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks.
The Falcons are led by junior forward A’uston Calhoun, who ranks seventh in the MAC, scoring 13.6 points along with six rebounds per game. Senior forward Scott Thomas is right behind him with 11.5 points per game along with a team-high 6.7 rebounds.
