Toledo guard Rian Pearson was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for the second consecutive week on Feb 6.
The sophomore guard averaged 27.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a pair of losses this week against two of the top teams from the MAC East in Akron and Buffalo.
Pearson leads the Rockets (10-13, 2-7 MAC) in points (17.3), rebounds (8) and steals (1.7) per game and is the only player in the conference to rank in the top 10 in all three categories. In his last two award-winning weeks, Pearson is averaging 25 points, 9.25 rebounds and 1.75 steals.
The Rockets will hope Pearson’s play continues as they take on Ohio (19-4, 7-2 MAC) at 7 p.m. Feb. 8 in Savage Arena.
