The Rockets won their seventh straight game on Feb. 4 after a 66-55 victory at Kent State televised on SportsTime Ohio and ESPN3. The victory was Toledo’s first in Kent since 2002.
The Rockets (15-7, 8-2 Mid-American Conference) shot nearly 45 percent (21 of 47) from the field including almost 41 percent (9 of 22) from behind the arc. With the victory, Toledo kept pace with Eastern Michigan (16-7, 8-2 MAC) atop the MAC West Division.
After scoring a career-high 23 points on Feb. 1, UT guard Courtney Ingersoll (7 of 13) led the Rockets with 20 points. The senior, who is sixth in the nation in three-point percentage (45.3), hit on five of her nine attempts from behind the arc against the Golden Flashes (5-15, 4-6).
Junior Lecretia Smith (6 of 7) scored 14 points with seven rebounds while senior Haylie Linn (4 of 7) added 13. Sophomore point guard Andola Dortch (2 of 10) had 12 points, six rebounds and a game-high six assists.
Toledo has a week off to prepare for its next game when it hosts archrival Bowling Green on Feb. 11 in Savage Arena. Tip-off is scheduled at noon and will precede the matchup between the men’s teams at 4 p.m. in B.G.
