Looking to hold on to its share of the Mid-American Conference West Division lead, the UT women’s basketball team will take on Akron on Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. in Savage Arena. The contest will also be televised on BCSN.
The Rockets (13-7, 6-2 MAC) remain deadlocked atop the conference with Eastern Michigan (14-7, 6-2), who won the earlier matchup on Jan. 11 between the two 70-66 in Savage Arena. The Eagles will face Ohio (10-12, 3-5) on Feb. 1.
Toledo enters the game against the Zips (9-13, 3-5) on a season-high five game winning streak. Akron, who is tied for fourth place in the MAC East, has lost three of its last four.
The Rockets are led by sophomore point guard Andola Dortch, who is seventh in the conference in points (13.7), second in assists (4.6) and fifth in steals (2.2) per game.
Zips forward Sina King leads the team averaging 12 points and six rebounds. Akron leads the conference in offense scoring 73.2 points per game but ranks last in the conference in scoring defense (74.4 ppg).
