UT travels to last-place Buffalo
Written by Zach Davis | | zdavis@toledofreepress.comRiding a season-high four-game winning streak, the UT women’s basketball team is traveling to New York to take on Buffalo at 2 p.m. Jan. 28.
The Rockets (12-7, 5-2 Mid-American Conference), who are tied atop the MAC West Division with Eastern Michigan, will hope to avoid a slipup against the MAC East’s last place team. The Bulls enter the game with a 6-15 record, with a 1-6 record in league play.
Defense is leading the charge for UT as its conference foes are shooting a league-low 33.2 percent from the floor for 55.3 points per game.
Sophomore guard Andola Dortch is pacing the Rockets, averaging 13.5 points and 4.58 assists per game. Buffalo guard Britany Hedderson is scoring 20.1 points per contest, the second highest total in the MAC.
Both teams will also be participating in the “Play 4 Kay” event, which will be aimed toward raising awareness of breast cancer. It is named after former North Carolina State head coach Kay Yow, who died in 2009 of breast cancer.
