The Josh Project is hosting a “Soul Food for Swimming” fundraiser Dec. 11 to raise awareness for water safety.
The Josh Project provides free swimming lessons and water safety training for the community.
The fundraiser includes food, a student recognition ceremony and a viewing of the organizations segment from an episode of HBO’s Real Sports. There will be speakers from the Toledo Sail and Power Squadron along with Shaun Anderson, a diversity specialist for the USA Swimming Foundation.
Food served at the event includes turkey, fried chicken, cornbread, dressing, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, candied yams and peach cobbler.
Doors open at 1 p.m. with food served at 1:30 p.m. and the show running from 2:30-4 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Children ages 5-12 and seniors over 65 are admitted for $20, and children under five are admitted free.
