Job Creation Plus One is inviting local business people to attend an educational ice cream social Sept. 15 to learn how to use the media locally and on a national level to gain credibility, recognition and potential growth.
Three presentations will be made by local media and business leaders at the event that is free for members and first-time guests.
“Mastering the Media can be a sweet treat for your business” according to presenter Nolan Baker, co-founder of The Retirement Guy’s Network and a regular columnist for Toledo Free Press.
Baker’s presentation will include two easy and free ways to get the media to ask for your help with six topics that will get the media’s attention. He will explore how to build your local media contacts, what to include in your next press release, and the four deadly sins to avoid that will put your message in the trash can.
Tom Moore of Monsoon Marketing will make a presentation about digital marketing that will include the four E’s of how to “Give to Get Marketing.” He will discuss how to identify your target market and learn how to reach them.
Moore is a cancer survivor whose sales and marketing career has included teaching, radio sales, ad agency and event planning. His experience has resulted in a communications specialist that focuses on digital and video marketing in today’s business world.
“How to get an Editor’s Attention: Highlight yourself through the local media,” will be presented by Michael Miller, editor-in-chief of Toledo Free Press.
Miller will share his ideas about how to get the editor’s attention and obtain coverage through the local media. With 20 years of experience working as a professional journalist, he is the recipient of more than 60 industry awards for writing and editing.
The educational event will be held Sept. 15 from 5:45-7:15 p.m. at 1700 Woodlands Dr. in Maumee. RSVPs must be made by Sept. 8 to Mikaya Drew at (757) 227-9822 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
