Andrew Z says he’s returning to radio soonWritten by Sarah Ottney | Editor in Chief | firstname.lastname@example.org
Local buzz has been swirling for weeks with hints Andrew Zepeda will be back on Toledo airwaves this month, but no official announcement has yet been made.
AllAccess.com, a radio and music industry website, reported July 11 the former 92.5 KISS FM morning show host will debut his new show at 6 a.m. July 18 on Cumulus station 100.7 The Vibe.
Scott Meier, Midwest regional vice president for Cumulus Media and general manager of the Toledo market, would not confirm the report and said in a June 30 email it’s too soon to comment. He did not respond to several subsequent emails seeking comment, including one on July 11.
A note posted on Zepeda’s Facebook page July 8 announced a radio deal had been reached and said the new show would be called “Andrew Z in the Morning: The People’s Show.” The note did not name the station.
According to Zepeda’s website, the show will feature a cast of familiar contributors, including Zepeda’s wife, Michelle, Corey W. King, Steve Reamey aka “Gay Steve,” Donny Palicki aka “Donny P,” Brandon Doriot, Calen Savidge and Jerry Pickering aka “Avalanche.”
The 42-year-old Zepeda hosted the area’s top-rated morning show “Andrew Z in the Morning” on Clear Station’s KISS FM for five years until late last year, when the station did not renew his contract.
In November, Zepeda was charged with theft, complicity to breaking and entering, and failure to remit sales tax in connection with his pizzeria at Levis Commons in Perrysburg. Zepeda pleaded guilty to all charges and entered an intervention program for alcohol abuse. He completed the intervention in lieu of conviction program in May and the charges will be cleared from his record if he completes a two-year probation program.
