BOE inspects provisional ballots from November electionWritten by Zach Davis | | firstname.lastname@example.org
The Lucas County Board of Elections met on May 13 to inspect provisional ballots from November?s commissioner race.
Toledo city councilman George Sarantou was originally declared Lucas County commissioner by 1,376 votes but later lost the race to Carol Contrada by 191 votes after provisional ballots were counted.
Chairman Patrick Kriner claimed that there was no chance of the election’s result being changed. Of the 160 ballots reviewed, 135 were deemed valid.
“There is no chance of overturning,” Kriner said. “The numbers shouldn’t change any of the election.”
The board will meet again on May 20 at 10 a.m. for certification if any provisional ballots need remade from voter intent issues.
