PAY FOR YOUR OWN RETIREMENT LIKE THE REST OF US DO !!!
Or better yet, have the dues stolen by union bureaucrats, who give it 99% to Demonrats, pay for your BENEFITS !!!

Unions are ruining this country. Get a 401K to save for retirement. Take a freaking pay cut like the rest of the country and be glad you have a job. You didn’t ask me Betty, but I haven’t had a raise in four years.

My GM made union car that cost me 32,000 is junk. It’s 2 years old and has been in the shop 5 times.
When I go to the DMV I get rude service.
The teachers were so bad at the public school I had to pay to put my kid in private, so you can al take your unions and shove them.

Public employees contribute 10% of their pay to pension funds compared to 4.2 % for Social Security. So Ty Coon, how do you figure YOU are paying my pension if I am a public employee? BTW, I am a public employee and I haven’t had a raise in 6 (six) years. How many raises have you had?

And Steve, you are right, EVERYONE needs to pull their own weight, not just public employees or other union workers. Let’s ALL give a little in the effort of climbing out of this deficit hole.

There are many State employees, City Employees and Municipal Employees who work hard every day to fufill their job duties. I am one of them and “we” did “not” cause this economic problem in the State of Ohio. Remember we had a President for eight years that gave tax cuts to the rich and got us into two unfunded wars, one we are still in and one we are just barely getting out of. I pay Federal Income tax, State Tax and City of Toledo Tax, I buy goods and services that keep this econimic recovery sputtering along. It is un fair for any Tea Party person to come after me with their hand out ready to put it in my pocket and cut my livelyhood.

P.S. The number of Volunteer Firemen, protecting America ,is what 92 % !!!

No pay, no retirement, no $3 glasses, no 2/3′s pay after 20 years and out,etc.

And somehow, those areas aren’t in CONSTANT CONFLAGRATION !!!

@Jim: Really? Get lost with your liberal rhetoric. Facts are facts, we got ourselves into a whole and EVERYONE needs to pull their own weight so that we can get out.. If these people dont like it, to bad, there are 22 million unemployed out there that would love the oportunity to work AND be willing to make some small sacrifices.. Toledo is being torn apart by liberal/union mentalities like yours. That is why people/business are leaving.. Just like Detroit

This all started when Americans turned their backs on Americans. When you close 42,000 factories during the Bush Reign of Terror it causes a economic hit to the American economy. When you drive a foreign made car it costs the state and country in tax revenue. Too many are fooling themselves and when the roads are bad enough you’ll all be trading in those KIAs for a Toledo built Jeep just to save on bent rims and front end alignments.

Well done! But this is only one rung on the ladder out of the hole (although that metaphor fails because so many rungs need to be ascended simultaneously). This is not just an Ohio state problem. From the federal government on down to municipalities, the overspending is epidemic – and we’ve tolerated it because we’ve let ourselves get hooked on the narcotic of goodies from the public treasury. No matter that government employment is expanding, that its employees are receiving wages and benefits out of all proportion with the private sector; just toss us our crumbs, and we’ll keep re-electing the members of the ruling class who give us our fix. No matter that we’re bankrupting the nation and enslaving our progeny to crushing debt and taxes; just keep the handouts coming, and we smile and turn away from the looming catastrophe.

You’re right, this is an EMERGENCY, call 911… and take their money! God help us if our police officers and firefighters actually become private sector, minimum-wage employees. Have you ever seen how well the employees of the “burger mart” handle the situation when 3 people try to order at the same time, and the fries aren’t ready. Now picture your house burning and your kids inside… good luck. Please DO NOT support SB5, your life may actually depend on it.
