Andrew Z announces radio show not renewedWritten by Kristen Criswell | | firstname.lastname@example.org
Radio personality Andrew Zepeda announced on his Facebook page that 92.5 Kiss FM has decided to not renew his contract for the Andrew Z in the Morning Show.
“We had 5 great years at KISS FM taking the show from some of its lowest ratings ever to its highest ratings in over 10 years! It’s disappointing that the station has decided to not stand by me. All I can ask is that you continue to let management know your displeasure,” Zepeda wrote.
The status has received more than 100 comments, including some additional comments from Zepeda.
Zepeda thanked all of his supporters and said he wishes his coworkers no ill will. He told people to send a message to Clear Channel by not listening to the show lowering their ratings and hurting their pockets.
Kiss FM has removed Zepedas’s name from the website and the current morning show now appears on the website and on air as “Kiss Morning Show.” He has not appeared on “Andrew Z in the Morning” show since mid-November .
Zepeda told Toledo Free Press it wasn’t really a surprise when they decided not to renew his contract since he hasn’t been on the air for more than a month.
Zepeda has a six month no compete contract with Clear Channel, but said during the past 5 years he’s built a life in Toledo and would love to stay here if another station will have him.
“It’s been tough. To go on unemployment the first time in your life is a little strange,” he said.
Clear Channel General Manager Andy Stuart did not return calls for comment.
