Updated: Possible multiple rapist arrestedWritten by Staff Reports | | firstname.lastname@example.org
A press conference was held on Nov. 26 by Toledo Police Chief Mike Navarre announcing the arrest of Vincent Williams on two counts of rape. There have been a series of sexual assaults and attempted abductions in the Toledo area with at least seven reported incidents. According information reported by the Toledo Municipal Clerk of Courts, Williams is set for arraignment on Nov. 27 at 9:00 a.m.
Williams has a previous criminal record in Toledo Municipal Court and was released from jail on Oct. 26, 2009 on a charge of receiving stolen property. Williams is also currently under a 2 year community control sentence stemming from being found guilty, after making an Alford plea, on Sept. 22, 2010 of carrying a concealed weapon in Lucas County Common Pleas Court. He was initially also charged with felonious assault and having a weapon while under disability. Those charges were dropped.
One of the complaints filed on Nov. 26 with Toledo Municipal Court alleges that Williams is the perpetrator of the rape against a 15 year old girl near Highland Park which took place on Nov. 19. The other charge appears to stem from the rape of 13 year old girl who was forced into an alley.
More to follow on this developing story.
On Nov. 27, Williams appeared before Judge Christiansen and requested a public defender. The judge set his bond at $500,000 at no percent for each count and a preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 6 at 9 a.m.
