Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) made the following statement after his victory this evening.
“I want to thank the voters of the Fifth District for their support throughout this campaign and I am humbled and honored for the confidence they have placed in me to be their Representative in Congress.
“Tonight’s historic victory by Republican Congressional candidates across the country was a direct referendum on the liberal agenda put forth by Nancy Pelosi and Congressional Democrats over the past four years. Americans finally said ‘enough is enough’ and have entrusted Republicans with a majority in the House of Representatives that will be immediately focus on creating jobs and getting our nation’s economy back on track. Job creation must, and will be, our number one priority.
“In the majority, I look forward to working with my Republican colleagues on reducing our current staggering debt and deficit, shrinking the size of our bloated Federal government, and install serious reforms on how Congress conducts business. The House will vote to repeal the government’s takeover of our nation’s health care system and replace it with health care reform that Americans want and pass a common-sense national energy plan. I look forward to casting my vote for John Boehner as Speaker of the House and congratulate him this evening on this victory, as he will become the third Speaker of the House from the great State of Ohio.”
