Michaels reportedly fired from Clear ChannelWritten by Kristen Criswell | | firstname.lastname@example.org
Bill Michaels, longtime operations director for Clear Channel-owned stations in Toledo, is reportedly no longer employed there.
Industry insiders said Michaels was fired because of an on-air stunt he signed off on for the Andrew Z Morning Show in which relatives climbed undressed into a sleeping bag to win a prize.
“He got fired, and if it was because of me I would feel guilty,” Andrew Zepeda said. “I asked them specifically if that was the case and they said ‘no.’ Legally that’s all they’ll tell me.”
When asked about Michaels’ firing, Andy Stuart, general manager of Clear Channel, gave no comment as to if Michaels was fired, or as to why.
Michaels, who worked at Clear Channel for 19 years, confirmed his departure to the website All Access Music Group, saying, “This was an amazing run for me. I’ve had a lot of fun at CC/TOLEDO, and have learned a lot. I’m looking forward to my next opportunity.”
