Former auditor reportedly commits suicide

Toledo police confirmed June 8 that former Lucas County Auditor Larry Kaczala, 53, has died, an apparent suicide.

A former attorney, Kaczala was elected to Toledo City Council in 1991. In 1993 he was appointed to Lucas County Auditor, where he served for 13 years.

In 2006 the Republican lost to current auditor Anita Lopez.

Kaczala ran against Rep. Marcy Kaptur in 2004 and for Toledo Municipal Court judge in 2007, losing both races.
