Hookahville Festival May 28-30
Written by Alexia Bailey | | abailey@toledofreepress.comTrickle Productions is presening the biannual Hookahville XXXIII festival, a three day event that will take place May 28-30 at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio.
“No hassles or bad attitudes” is the main rule at Hookahville.
Dave Katz, a member of the band Ekoostik Hookah, describes Hookahville as “an old school festival” with camping, music, and good times.
The festival has steadily grown since 1994. Performers such as Willie Nelson, David Crosby, Arlo Guthrie and Leftover Salmon have played at the festival.
Hookahville XXXIII has brought some big names to its lineup this year. Keeping with the tradition, Ekoostik Hookah will perform two sets, one on Friday and the other on Sunday. New to this event, Gov’t Mule and Michael Franti & Spearhead will also headline; both acts will perform two sets. Bass Nector, Donna The Buffalo, Freekbass, Oakhurst, Rumpke Mountain Boys and Boogie Matrix Mechanism will return to the stage for XXXIII. Larry Keel & Natural Bridge, Zach Deputy, the Arkband, Cowboy Hillbilly Hippy Folk, Carlos Jones & The Plus Band, Strange Arrangement, UV Hippo, Jahman Brahman, Bloom Street and Under The Sun will take the stage for the first time.
Media coordinator for the event, Dave Weissman, expects that Gov’t Mule, Michael Franti, Oakhurst, and Bumwealthy will be crowd favorites for this years’ festival.
Weissman has been involved with Hookahville off and on since 1998.
“There are different people every year,” Weissman said, “You get to meet people you wouldn’t normally meet in your everyday life.”
There are a limited number of tickets available for 75 dollars. Once these tickets are gone the ticket prices will go up to 100 dollars. Does hookahville have anything to do with actual hookah or is it just the name?
I am a blogger at http://www.buyhookah.com and love to get as much info about the hookah hobby and it’s enthusiasts so I’m interested in what this actually is.
